Major international events took place in Tashkent: the Youth Kurultai and the “Youth for Peace” conference held in the Model UN format. The platform brought together ambitious young leaders, volunteer organizations, and representatives of international bodies to discuss the global agenda and strengthen a culture of peace.

Amirbek Urakov, a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Studying Youth Problems and Training Prospective Personnel under the Youth Affairs Agency, was a prominent participant in the diplomatic discussions, representing Canada. He emphasized key aspects of sustainable development and the core of youth diplomacy:

• Preserving cultural heritage in the era of urbanization: Amirbek Urakov stressed that rapid urban growth should not come at the expense of historical memory. Drawing on Canada’s experience in actively protecting both tangible and intangible heritage, he noted the relevance of this balance for dynamically developing Uzbekistan as well.
• Rethinking the concept of “peace”: According to the researcher, peace is built on mutual understanding and the ability to find compromise. The “Youth for Peace” conference served as an ideal platform to refine these skills.
• Practical value of initiatives: The doctoral candidate highlighted that the event went beyond a standard simulation: the delegates’ work culminated in a signed resolution containing practical solutions to pressing global challenges.
