UNICEF and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation on behalf of the Swiss Government signed an agreement to support the Youth and Child-Friendly Local Governance initiative in Uzbekistan.
The Swiss government has allocated almost 400 thousand US dollars to implement this initiative in 6 pilot cities of Uzbekistan in 2022. The cities will be selected in Andijan, Fergana, Navoi, Surkhandarya, Khorezm regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
By the end of 2022, an assessment of the impact of this initiative will be carried out and an action plan for scale-up of the initiative throughout the Republic will be developed. Top three out of six selected cities will be granted the title of the Youth and Child-Friendly Cities.
