Greece and Spain lead Europe in terms of unemployment rate among the population under 25 years old. In Greece, the unemployment rate is 39.1%, and in Spain – 29.2%, which is much higher than in the euro area as a whole (15.5%).
Since 2008, youth unemployment in Spain has fallen below 30%. But in 2020, the pandemic again provoked an increase in unemployment in the country to 38.3%.
Now in Spain there are officially 493,000 unemployed under the age of 25.
