FinExpertiza analysts studied Rosstat data and came to the conclusion that young families spend more on food than others.
In the second quarter of 2021, youth spending on food increased by almost 80%. As experts explained, young people are less likely to cook at home and increasingly prefer healthy foods that are more expensive than regular ones.
Nutritionist K. Selezneva: “The reason for the increase in spending on food among young people is in a change in their approach to nutrition. If earlier people began to control their diet only after the onset of health problems, now more young and healthy people are interested in how to eat right and choose high-quality foods. Another reason is the unwillingness to cook at home. Therefore, services for the delivery of ready-made food are gaining popularity. It is more expensive than buying food for yourself and cooking it at home”.
