On June 20, 2024, the XVII meeting of the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held in Astana on the topic: “Youth leadership in the environmental environment: creating a path to a stable future within the SCO».

The meeting was attended by more than 150 delegates – youth leaders from SCO member and observer countries.
Also, the Director of the Institute for the Research of Youth Problems and Training Prospective Personnel under Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aktam Zhalilov, took part in the event and spoke about the contribution of volunteers to the reclamation of the Aral Sea bottom.

In addition, it was noted that to date the SCO Youth Council has held more than three hundred major events and is implementing various projects.

Following the meeting, the participants adopted a Joint Resolution on strengthening cooperation between youth organizations of the SCO countries. The document envisages the creation of an international headquarters of eco-volunteers, the organization of annual competitions for environmental projects, and much more.
